Call for Presentations for CARPA7 is open now until 28 February 2021

Elastic Writing in Artistic Research 

The seventh biennial international conference Colloquium on Artistic Research in Performing Arts (CARPA7) is held on 26-28 August 2021 with a pre-conference on 25 August 2021. 

Elastic Writing in Artistic Research, CARPA7, is arranged in a hybrid format that allows for both remote online attendance and limited live attendance at the conference venue, the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. Owing to the COVID19 pandemic, we will continue to monitor closely and act on the advice of the World Health Organization as well as authorities in Finland and other countries.

Venue: Theatre Academy Helsinki and online 

The conference invites artist-researchers (individually, as pairs or in panels) from diverse environments to submit presentation proposals related to the themes of the conference’s three different strands. 

The conference addresses its thematic through a threefold grid: Forms of Writing (with No Hands), Dis(guised) Writing and Techno-Writing. To introduce timely perspectives on each strand, they each will be addressed by an invited presenter with experience in issues related to writing in, with and about art and artistic research. The conference days will begin with an exploratory writing workshop involving both embodied and digitally-mediated approaches to collaborative writing. Additionally, continuous feedback, exchange and collaborative writing opportunities are offered for the conference participants via shared digital platforms. The overall set up of the conference will allow participants to envision approaches to writing in artistic research by different writing agents through different media, as well as writing for different audiences.   

Your proposal must be formulated around the topic of one of the three strands of the conference. Before submitting your proposal, please, make sure that you have read the Vision Statement and Call carefully at CARPA7 website.

Applicants will be informed of their acceptance by 26 March 2021. Accepted presenters are asked to confirm their participation and submit the completed abstract by 8 April 2021 (Europe-Helsinki UTC +02:00).
