Superorganism: Bee Time Residency for Arts and Humanities PhD Students
14-28 October 2018
Santa Lucia, Spain
Doctoral students in the UK are invited to make a proposal to take part in a residency. The proposal should respond to the theme of honey bees in whatever ways are appropriate to their research. We anticipate a possible mix across the resident students of artistic, visual, writing, music, historical, philosophical, linguistic, social science methods. Prior knowledge of bees and beekeeping is not necessary, but an enthusiasm to use them as actual or metaphorical stimulation for research is required.
The residency is a collaboration between the Postgraduate Arts and Humanities Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University and Bee Time Artist Residencies (BTAR). BTAR is a community learning and artist residency programme that cultivates a network of natural beekeepers within the ecology and culture of Santa Lucia, a village in Andalucia.
There is no fee to attend. Travel of students funded by the North West Consortium Doctoral Training Programme is covered. Other students need to fund their travel. Accommodation and lunches are provided for all students.
