The Danish National School of Performing Arts invites applications for a professorship with special responsibilities (MSO) in Dance and Choreography. The Danish National School of Performing Arts is applying for accreditation for an Artistic Bachelor's degree in Dance and Choreography and is developing a Master’s degree. Therefore, we are appointing a professor with special responsibilities to strengthen the international research profile and academic environment. An important part of this is to continue the development of a Nordic Choreographic Platform on Master’s level that the school is fostering in close collaboration with Oslo Academy of the Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki, and Stockholm University of the Arts.
THE APPLICANT
The successful applicant will be responsible for our degree course in Dance and Choreography and is expected to teach and supervise students at all levels. We are looking for a candidate with a solid experience in teaching within the field of dance and choreography, and who has a thorough knowledge of artistic practice and research. The successful applicant will become an important centre-point in a strong academic environment with a focus on developing new production models and artistic practices in the performing arts. To ensure a close relationship between teaching and artistic practice, we expect the successful applicant to be a recognised artist in dance and choreography and to have strong pedagogical skills. It is crucial that the successful applicant can become a unifying force in a small but well-established and well-functioning team, where teachers and technical/administrative staff solve tasks in close dialogue. Therefore, we expect the applicant to have solid experience with the professional guidance of teachers and programme coordinators, and to be able to set a framework for tasks in a way that creates confidence and job satisfaction among employees. As an important role model for our employees and students, we also expect the successful applicant to have good communications skills and to be able to navigate an artistic learning environment with a strong focus on collaboration across departments and disciplines.

In addition to the general professorial duties, the position as professor MSO includes special responsibilities for the development of a Nordic Choreographic Platform on Master level in close collaboration with Oslo Academy of the Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki and Stockholm University of the Arts.
Other duties may also fall within the remit of the Danish National School of Performing Arts.
Duties are organised by agreement with the rector.
QUALIFICATIONS
The position of a professor with special responsibilities (MSO) is established to appoint a particularly talented researcher to further develop dance and choreography as a field of research and education. The qualification requirements for the Professor of Performing Arts include artistic and/or theoretical merits and qualifications, good teaching skills and broad knowledge of contemporary art.

An assessment committee including the rector and two external members will be established to assess applicants’ suitability with regard to the qualifications required by the position.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a temporary position for four years with the potential to extend for up to an additional four years. Upon expiration of the professorship, the successful applicant will transfer to permanent employment and compensation as an associate professor. The transition from appointment as a professor with special responsibilities to associate professor is not considered to be a job change, and therefore any financial compensation allowances will be maintained and remuneration will be based on an associate professorship if this is agreed as a condition of the employment contract.
The position is offered between 75% to 100% of a full-time position subject to agreement.
Salary is entered on individual terms and will be transferred to the coming regulation on pay structure for the Danish National School of Performing of the Ministry of Finance. There will be an opportunity to negotiate individual qualification-based increases.
The start date will be 1st January 2019.
The professor will report to the rector.
Your permanent place of work will be at the school’s Copenhagen campus. However, you should regularly attend the school’s other campuses in Fredericia, Odense, Odsherred, and Aarhus.
