A call for Postdoctoral Researcher position

We are now opening a call for applications in the field in artistic research of performing arts for Postdoctoral Researcher position at the Performing Arts Research Centre at the Theatre Academy for the fixed-term 1.8.2019 – 31.7.2020.

We are looking for an artist-researcher who is motivated to participate and actively develop research activities in the Performing Arts Research Centre TUTKE. The Postdoctoral Researcher has the obligation 1) to further their own research project, 2) to work towards at least one peer-reviewed article or publication, and 3) to prepare a personal or participate in the preparation of a collective funding application in artistic research. The Uniarts Helsinki research services will offer support regarding funding applications.

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, in addition to personal research, publication activities, project planning and applying for funding, your tasks may include other communal university activities according to agreement. These individually agreed upon tasks may not exceed an approximate of 25% of your total working time. Preference will be given to recently graduated artistic doctorates.  

Working time and salary

The total working time of researchers is 1624 hours per annum. Salary is determined in accordance with the Salary System for Finnish Universities and the task-specific salary component will be level 5. In addition, the personal salary component will be paid. At the beginning of the employment, the total salary will be 3,300-3,500 € / month. In addition, the university offers comprehensive services to its employees, including occupational health care and health insurance, sports facilities, and opportunities for professional development.

Applicants are requested to provide all the following documents:

  • A motivation letter (1page, minimum font size 12)
  • A preliminary research plan (maximum 4 pages, minimum font size 12), which clearly indicates:
  • the field of research and subject
  • research questions, methodology, and expected outcomes
  • schedule of implementation, the materials required, technical and financial resources required, possible staff resources
  • potential partners (if any)
  • CV (maximum 2 pages, minimum font size 11)
  • List of publications and artistic portfolio (maximum 4 pages minimum font size 11 or a maximum of 15 minutes of video through Internet links).
  • The deadline for application is April 28, 2019 (23:59 Finnish time).
  • All applications must be sent as single PDF files to the Uniarts registry via email to kirjaamo(at)uniarts.fi, with the subject title “TUTKE-tutkija/TUTKE researcher”.
  • Shortlisted applicants may be interviewed via SKYPE. The applicants will be further informed about this by Friday May 24, 2019. Confirmation of receipt will be sent to the sender’s email address.
