ARTikulationen is an annual international festival of artistic research that engages with artistic, aesthetic, social, and other human questions through integrated artistic and scholarly/scientific research approaches. Since 2016 Dr.artium candidates together with international artists, scholars and thinkers have been presenting and discussing their projects, most recent works, and results. ARTikulationen is organised by the Doctoral School for Artistic Research of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz; the 2019 issue is co-directed by Deniz Peters and Dorothea Seel.
Highlights 2019 are: 13 artistic research presentations with integrated performances by doctoral candidates including doctoral rigorosa by Susanne Fröhlich and Hannes Dufek; guest lectures by Jonas Baes, Amanda Bayley, Marc Vanscheeuwijck and Friederike Wißmann; a discussion round Critically Concerned? in cooperation with the Styrian contemporary music festival musikprotokoll, featuring Khyam Allami, Deniz Peters, Bushra el-Turk, and Cynthia Zaven; and this year's KWDS best practice award.
