University College Cork, Department of Theatre

Call for applications: Arts Management & Creative Producing

The MA in Arts Management & Creative Producing (MA AMCP) is a full-time one year (or part-time two year) English-language master’s degree programme at the Department of Theatre (School of Music & Theatre, University College Cork, Ireland). Unusually, our programme is situated inside a Department and School where we see producing as a creative, and even experimental, practice. The programme offers a unique opportunity for self-motivated postgraduate students from a variety of backgrounds to train in arts management and creative producing and to learn through professional practice afforded by UCC’s partnership with the Cork Opera House and the teaching team’s extensive professional experience and network of contacts in the industry.

-Students take core modules on the Arts Landscape, Arts Management, and Creative Producing together with an end of year Arts Placement.

-Practical dissertation in event programming/producing with mentorship/guidance from the teaching team and experts at the Cork Opera House. You make your own festival, together.

-Choice of elective modules across the disciplines to suit individual student goals/needs.

-Learn from those with professional backgrounds in a range of arts organizations: Cork Opera House, The Everyman (Theatre), Abbey Theatre, Cork Midsummer Festival, Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Glucksman Gallery, Quarter Block Party.

The Department of Theatre (https://www.ucc.ie/en/fmt/theatre/) is proud of its vibrant research community and its commitment to theory and performance practice as well as its investment in interdisciplinarity and cross-cultural understanding within the performing arts.

With Cork’s ranking as one of the top eight cultural and creative cities in Europe – alongside Paris, Eindhoven, and Heidelberg – we have a thriving and enabling local environment for daring thinkers in producing. Our School is surrounded by artistic enterprise and innovation taking place in and around cultural centres of excellence such as Cork Midsummer Festival, Cork Film Festival, Cork Jazz Festival, Quarter Block Party, The Everyman (Theatre), Crawford Gallery, Glucksman Gallery, Corcadorca Theatre Company, the Theatre Development Centre at Triskel Christchurch, Graffiti Theatre Company, the National Sculpture Factory, the Circus Factory, Cork Print Makers, the West Cork Literary Festival and West Cork Film Festival.

Deadline: June 30, 2020
