Tenure-Track Professorship for Contextual Practice in Jewellery and Hollowware

The Academy of Fine Arts Munich (AdBK) invites applications for the position

W1-Tenure-Track-Professorship (Tenure-Track to W2) for Contextual Practice in Jewellery and Hollowware (m, f, d)

To be filled at the earliest possible date. If the requirements specified by civil service law are met, the appointment will be as a civil servant with limited tenure for the duration of three years. Subject to a positive evaluation of the candidate’s professional, pedagogical and personal aptitude, an extension for a further three years is possible. The appointment for the W2-professorship depends entirely upon the outcome of the tenure evaluation. On the basis of a positive tenure evaluation the candidate will be appointed as professor (W2) with civil service status for life.

The professorship for contextual practice is part of the study programme ‘Fine Art’. It servesas an interface between the practical realization of artistic processes and their theoretical reflection. The professorship’s main focus lies on the engagement with concepts and knowledge that are central to artistic research and their transmission to Fine Art students as well as the supervision of individual projects across different classes and specialisms.

We are looking for an internationally renowned artist with excellent achievements in the area of jewellery and hollowware. Further requirements are pedagogical competence and the willingness to participate in the academic self-administration of the Academy.

 - A completed university degree

 - A record of artistic research with a focus on jewellery and hollowware

- Excellent knowledge of the discourses in contemporary art and design

- The ability to offer teaching in English
