Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH) welcomes your application for the position of Professor of Film and Media with the assignment as responsible for the profile area Art, Technology, Materiality. Deadline for applications 2023-06-30.

We are looking for someone who wants to work with artistic research as well as teaching and supervising. The position is currently located at the research center where you work together with the profile professors and the vice chancellor for research, to whom you also report. You work mainly with postgraduate education and can also be active in other teaching across SKH. You will develop the research conducted at SKH, as well as pursue collaborations within your profile area and conduct your own artistic research.

You actively participate and represent SKH in the national and international artistic research environment. As a professor, you are a leader in your artistic field and the quality of your activities must be at the highest international level.

Job description

Your work tasks include:

  • Develop the profile area Art, Technology, Materiality as an active interdisciplinary platform within the artistic research environment at SKH.
  • Teach and supervise
  • Work to strengthen the link between research and education at SKH
  • Develop and contribute to collaborations and networks that strengthen the artistic research environment at SKH.
  • Engage in the relationship between artistic research and contemporary arts practices and discourses of intersectionality.
  • Initiate, develop and manage artistic research projects internally and externally at national and international level.
  • Actively participate in and represent SKH in the national and international artistic research community.

As a professor, you will play an important role in building a shared culture of openness and collaboration at SKH and be involved in creating a good working environment. The position includes research time as agreed.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the position of professor in the artistic discipline you have to demonstrate both artistic and teaching expertise within the field of Film and Media.

Detailed information regarding qualifications and assessment criteria for teaching appointments is stated in Chapter 4 Sections 3 and 4 of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance.

This requires a deep understanding of and extensive experience within your field. In addition, you have those personal abilities required to competently fulfil the appointment and to be able to represent the university in a manner beneficial to the organization. Good written and spoken English skills. Candidates who do not speak Swedish are expected to have acquired sufficient language skills within two years to be able to work in a Swedish-speaking teaching environment.

Assessment criteria

Assessment criteria when appointing a professor shall include the degree of proficiency required to be eligible for the position. When appointing a professor, consideration shall also be taken regarding the applicant’s ability to develop, lead, and implement very high quality courses and programmes, artistic research, or research and development work.

The following criteria will be assessed, in this order of priority:

  • Artistic skills; excellence within your artistic field, demonstrated by active artistic practice. The quality of your activities is to be at the highest international level
  • Documented ability to develop, lead and implement education at doctoral level
  • Proven ability to initiate, develop and manage artistic research of highest quality
  • Applicant's plan for developing the profile area Art, Technology, Materiality nationally and internationally
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a national and international context
  • Experience of equity, diversity and inclusion work

You have undergone training in teaching in higher education, or expect to do so within the next three years, or have in some other documented manner acquired equivalent knowledge.

About the position

The scope of employment is full-time and is time-limited to five years. However, the total period of employment may not exceed ten years. Entry January 2024 or by agreement.

The assignment as responsible for the profile area Art, Technology, Materiality is for five years with a mutual notice period of two months.
