The University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Doctoral School for Artistic Research KWDS, is offering a temporary full-time postdoctoral position for a Senior Scientist (Postdoc) for Artistic Research in Music (Substitute Position) based on § 26 of the Austrian collective agreement for university employees, to begin as early as possible in summer semester 2020.
KWDS offers an exciting artistic research environment with an internationally leading doctoral programme in artistic research, centering around epistemically oriented artistic practice in the fields of music and performing arts and related interdisciplinary practices. We are looking for an outstanding artistic researcher in music (including interdisciplinary practices) to (1) contribute to the management of the Dr.artium Programme (substantial involvement in the yearly festival for artistic research ARTikulationen and issues of the Salon 12B discussion series, contribution to the orientation/prior contact phase for Dr.artium applicants and to the admissions process); (2) conduct and publish original artistic research; (3) to develop research collaborations and to apply for research funding; and (4) to teach and contribute to editorial work towards the planned Journal for Artistic Research in Music.
The successful candidate will have an approach to artistic research that systematically integrates reflection through artistic experimentation with scholarly/scientific reflection. The candidate will show evidence of high international level artistic and academic research and publications in music, previous experience in organizing and running festivals and conferences, be an excellent teamworker with a sophisticated working and communication culture, social and gender competence, show close familiarity with the current discourse on artistic research, and will possess excellent academic English and/or German skills. Audiovisual postproduction skills are a plus.
