SAR Communications Officer

We would like to inform you of this new opportunity within the SAR environment:

The Executive Board has decided to recruit for a part-time task as Communication Officer.

Works in close connection with the Executive Officer to achieve the objectives set for the organisation by the Executive Committee.

Main tasks, pending on qualifications:

• Interface with individual and institutional members;
• Manage ordinary membership applications;
• Maintain the register of individual members;
• Providing regular newsletters and other communications to the membership;
• Assisting Executive members with specific tasks such as liaising with SAR Special Interest Groups and candidates for the annual RC Award;
• Proofreading and editing, as well as digital publishing on the website;
• Supporting SAR events;
• Promoting SAR in general and RC in particular;
• Developing archiving routines and their maintenance;
• Supporting the preparation of funding applications.

Key skills and experience in the same areas.

We expect:

• Relevant training and experience in communications;
• English language skills;
• Administrative skills;
• Structured thinking;
• Good communication skills (written and oral);
• Experience of setting up and maintaining websites.

We hope for:

• Knowledge of the higher education/research sector;
• Experience of editing and ideally layout, web and print design;
• Internet research skills;
• Event organisation and project management experience;

The work will mostly be conducted on-line from own premisses, but will from time to time require travel to occasions such as on-site Executive Board meetings and SAR public events. It will require use of own computer, internet connection etc.

This opportunity is offered as a part-time freelance assignment, with a monthly time frame of 16 hours per week for 11 months per year (alternatively throughout the year) and payment by monthly invoice of € 2.080.
