Society for Artistic Research & i2ADS – University of Porto

Invitation to participate in the COST Action Artistic Intelligence

In cooperation with i2ADS – University of Porto, SAR has secured a four-year COST Action Funding Application:

Artistic Intelligence - Responsiveness, accessibility, responsibility, equity (ARTinRARE) COST Action CA23158

This pioneering project will link and connect a wide range of initiatives currently trying to explore the potential of machine learning, artificial intelligence and generative algorithms in artistic research, as well as in all creative sectors: music and visual arts, performing and written arts, architecture and applied arts. The aim is also to focus on how to strengthen annotation and referencing within artistic research, demonstrating the relevance of the Frascati research criteria transferability and – while promoting the principles of open access, open data and open source – look for solutions to secure the creators’ ownership of the data generated by the use and consumption of creativity and research in the creative arts.

For more information on the frame of the application, see this link to the Memorandum of Understanding.

We are now inviting candidates to the four working groups:

  • Adaptation Strategies (WG1)

  • Collective Intelligences (WG2)

  • Reference Frameworks (WG3)

  • Policy-making and Recommendations (WG4)

Working Group members will work collaboratively to perform the tasks described in the Memorandum of Understanding (see Section 4. Implementation).

The Action funds networking activities through Short Term Missions, mobility Grants, ITC Conference Grants, Dissemination Grants, Working Group Meetings and Training Schools. COST does not pay any salary or directly fund research work.

COST Actions are inclusive interdisciplinary research networks that bring researchers and innovators together, with an emphasis on Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITC), young researchers and innovators (< 40 years) and gender balance.
