Ecological Design and Performance Pedagogies: Sustainable Practices and Interdisciplinary Acts in a Climate Changed World

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL 29 NOVEMBER 2024

The Performing Arts Research Centre of the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts, Helsinki, together with the Master´s Degree Programmes in Scenography, Lighting Design, Sound Design, Theatre Pedagogy and Dance Pedagogy, and the Performance + Ecology Research Lab (P+ERL) of the Creative Arts Research Institute (CARI) of Griffith University, Australia, are announcing the ninth international conference on artistic research.  

 Dates: 28–30 August 2025 

Venue: Theatre Academy, University of the Arts, Helsinki, Finland 

The global ecological crisis calls for the exploration of new practices in performance production across all areas. The colloquium explores pedagogical approaches to, in, and for performance making in a climate changed world. We look for diverse presentations on perspectives and concerns around understanding and enacting climate justice in performing arts training and research. For this colloquium, we invite presentations on how researchers, practitioners, educators, and mentors have integrated sustainability and ecological thinking into their performance making processes.

CARPA is one of the few international biennial academic conferences on artistic research focusing specifically on the performing arts. Each conference addresses a particular topical theme and new approaches to artistic research that benefit the expanding field of academic artistic research.
