The WALC Project: Open Call for NODES

Are you passionate about building connections, inspiring communities, and exploring innovative practices? WALC (Walking Arts and Local Community) invites (research) groups, collectives, organizations, and venues to become NODES, key contributors to a growing network focused on walking arts and community-based issues.

WHAT IS WALC?

“Walking Arts & Local Communities" (WALC) is a Creative Europe co-funded project that launched in January 2024 and spans four years. With seven partners across five countries, WALC aims to establish an International Center for Artistic Research And Practice in Walking Arts. This hub will be complemented by a cutting-edge digital platform connecting walking arts practitioners worldwide.

What Does It Mean to Be a NODE?
As a NODE, you'll organize local activities while connecting with an international network of artists, researchers, and changemakers. You'll help expand WALC's vision, share knowledge, and spark conversations on how walking art fosters care, innovation, and sustainability.

Why Join Us?

Becoming a NODE connects you with exciting opportunities:

  • Collaborate with artists, researchers, and changemakers across Europe.
  • Be featured in WALC’s global promotions and documentary.
  • Organize exhibitions linked to our 2027 final showcase.
  • Gain visibility for your local activities on our international platform.
  • Access online events and training sessions

Who Can Apply?
We are looking for (research) groups, organizations and informal collectives already making an impact in their communities. You don’t need to specialize in walking arts—this call is open to diverse fields such as arts, social practices, wellbeing, education, sustainable tourism, technology, science, and ecology.

While we prioritize NODES from EU  countries beyond our current partner countries (Greece, Spain, Portugal, France, and Belgium), we welcome applications from all regions, inside and outside of Europe.

Key Dates and How to Apply
This is an ongoing call with monthly selection, upcoming deadlines for proposals on March 31, 2025. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a video interview in 2 weeks after the deadline.
