16th SAR International Conference on Artistic Research - Resonance - Programme

Have you had a chance to explore the Conference Programme yet?

Built in the Research Catalogue as an exposition, we are truly impressed with this year’s programme and conference pages thoughtfully designed and created by the conference team at i2ADS, Porto! We are pleased to share this format that reflects both the richness of the content and the care with which it has been curated.

Organised in collaboration with i2ADS—a leading research unit in art and design based at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto—the conference will take place at the Faculty of Engineering. The programme features over 55 sessions, including presentations and keynotes, offering a broad and nuanced view of current practices and discourses in artistic research.

The first day begins with meetings and presentations from the Special Interest Groups, followed by an Opening Performance, Keynote by Matthew Fuller, a Poster Session, and the Early Career Researchers Encounter before concluding with a Welcome Event at the Faculty of Fine Arts.

The second day opens with Artistic Research presentations, selected from over 300 submissions, followed by a Keynote by Yinka Esi Graves, further presentations and the Journal for Artistic Research sessions. The day ends with the conference dinner—an opportunity to continue conversations in a more informal setting.

The third and final day includes another round of Artistic Research presentations, a Keynote by Juliana Hodkinson, and the Plenary Session, which will include the announcement of this year’s Annual Prize for Excellent Research Catalogue Exposition! The conference will close with a celebratory round of farewell drinks.

We are truly looking forward to this year’s conference—both the depth of artistic research being shared and the chance to engage with so many colleagues, peers, and new voices in the Artistic Research community.

We cannot wait to welcome you all to Porto!

Upcoming Seminar on RC for Teaching, Learning and Examination Purposes

Wednesday 21.05 – 15:00-16:30 CEST

All portal partners have the option to operate both a public and an internal portal on the RC. In this seminar we will present how some of our portal partners use the internal portal for teaching, learning and examination purposes, how expositions can be used for presenting outcomes of such activities to the international artistic research environment as well as how these activities can be managed by your local portal admin – including options for archiving of expositions delivered for examination purposes.

We arranged a thematic seminar on this issue in February, but found that we have sufficient inputs to provide a second seminar on this on Wednesday 21.05.

At this event there will be presentations from NTNU-Norwegian University of Science and Technology, ABAROMA-Rome Academy of Fine Arts and University of Music and Performing Arts, Graz.

Invitations to this event will be sent to all Portal Partners approximately two weeks ahead of the webinar.
