Universitätsprofessor (m/w/d) for Aesthetics

Universitätsprofessor (m/w/d) for Aesthetics

Zahl: 1232/1-2025

The appointment procedure will be as set out in Universitätsgesetz 2002, § 98–limited to 5 years, employment level 100%

We are looking for someone to fully represent the field of aesthetics at our university on an international level. Qualifications in the field of aesthetic theories with a focus on current social developments (specified below) are therefore required. A willingness for interdisciplinary collaboration and cooperation in all areas of study at the university is expected to introduce and promote (contemporary) forms of critical theory formation and reflection in research, teaching and artistic practice. This will include the supervision of theses and PhD projects.

Employment requirements are

  • an internationally recognized academic career
  • a qualified research profile on aesthetic theories (proven by relevant publications, success in third-party funded research projects, international reputation); preferably, among others, on political and social dimensions of aesthetic orders, on de- and postcolonial as well as power-critical contexts and on the relationship between the aesthetic and current social developments (such as socio-ecological transformations)
  • experience in international and interdisciplinary research collaborations and networks
  • excellent knowledge of (current) artistic and aesthetic practices as well as experience in interdisciplinary thinking and working
  • excellent pedagogical and didactic aptitude appropriate to the task; several years of teaching experience
  • gender and discrimination-critical competence
  • comprehensive communication and social skills

The scope of duties of the professorship includes in particular

  • the development of new study formats and further development of existing ones
  • further development of the research profile in national and international cooperations by acquisition of research funding (third-party funding acquisition)
  • participation in university committees and, if necessary, willingness to take on management tasks
  • the commitment to issues of equality and gender studies
  • the critical examination of current developments (e.g. Triple Transformation)

The Mozarteum University Salzburg expects the willingness to actively participate in the development of the university and to choose the Salzburg area as the center of one's life.

Remuneration is in accordance with the collective agreement for university employees in the A1 category and currently amounts to at least € 6,604.30 gross monthly salary at the basic level (at 100% employment level). This corresponds to an annual gross salary of € 92.460.20 (14 monthly salaries). Both the salary and all other details of the employment contract may be the subject of employment contract negotiations.

Travel and accommodation costs associzted with the interview and selection processes will not be reim-bursed.
