Why Resonance, again? Why revisit it after the SAR 2025 Conference in Porto?
Because resonance lingers. It is the aftereffect, the ongoing ripple that continues to shape how we experience and respond to the world. 

To face the existence of an absent presence — Resonance — is a way to think about the materialities of artistic practice, looking back on H. Rosa’s four crucial elements: affection; emotion; transformation and uncontrollability to understand the transformative potentials of the artwork.

 

About the Submissions:

As the SAR 2025 Conference begins, we invite contributions that explore resonance through artistic research. Your submission may:

1. Derive from or expand upon the perspective you presented at SAR 2025, transforming it into an exhibition.
2. Engage with the theme of resonance independently, inspired by its relevance to artistic practice.

HUB – Journal of Research in Art, Design and Society

HUB is a peer-reviewed and open-access research journal for reporting on arts, design, and performing arts. The journal is published twice a year by i2ADS – Research Institute in Art, Design and Society (University of Porto, Portugal) and hosted on the Research Catalogue platform.

Submissions received by September 30 will be reviewed for the Spring Issue to be published in May 2026. Proposals received after that date will be considered for the following Spring Issue.
