Following the recent release of the Research Catalogue (RC), the Society for Artistic Research (SAR) seeks institutional partners to pilot the use of the RC as institutional repository and/or alternative publication platform for three years. Possibilities exist for portal partnership for all or part of the duration of the pilot project (January 2012-December 2014). Members of SAR paying 10000 euro or more annually are eligible to apply to be portal partners. Additional costs, including administration and introduction workshop, are negotiated according to the needs of individual partners.

• Full integration of your research into the RC – general RC searches will retrieve your research;
• Added international and sustained exposure to staff and student research through permanent URL;
• Prominent exposure of your institution as RC 'portal partner' with the added benefit of being listed on the home page and the search interface;
• Being part of an exciting project and enjoying new developments first hand;
• Create synergies between members to support future funding.

Requirements:

• Awareness that this would be a pilot project and that workflows and other administrative issues are still being refined;
• Understanding that the project is informed by an open source ethos and that partners are accordingly expected to contribute actively in terms of concept development as well as development of the RC platform itself;
• SAR membership and membership support scheme of at least 10000 euro per annum;
• Provision of one dedicated project leader as port of contact for SAR;
• Organization coverage of initial meeting and workshop;
• Commitment to train people with the partner institution;
• Implementation of the RC in education and/or publication processes;
• A 'portal page' on the institution's web site or as part of the institutional repository that links to the RC;
• A statement on how the RC would be used, by whom, and what is expected of SAR;
• A report on experience and initial assessment of expectations regarding the RC.

Portal partners could use such links on dedicated web pages or within their institutional repository.

RC Portal Pilot partners receive the rights to receive and manage submissions made to their specific portal on the RC. If they accept the submission, the submitted research will be fixed, receive a stable URL and will be indexed as belonging to the portal. While this workflow will be managed through RC administration tools, portal partners need to decide how to use those URLs within their websites or repositories and to design workflows independent of this project to make the best use of their research on the RC.
