Lula Romero holds degrees in Composition, Piano, and Art History. She has finished a Master's in Composition at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Gilius van Bergeijk and Cornelis de Bondt and her Artistic Doctoral Studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Graz, Austria.

She has been awarded the "Edition Zeitgenössische Musik" (WERGO) by Deutscher Musikrat, Portrait CD (2017), the GIGA-HERTZ Production Prize 2014 by the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics and the SWR EXPERIMENTALSTUDIO, the Kompositionsstipendium 2015 and 2012 and the Berlin–Rheinsberger Kompositionpreis 2011, by the cultural affairs department of the city of Berlin and the grants/residences Residence in the Deutsches Studienzentrum Venedig (Venice) 2017 of the German Government, the Künstlerhof Schreyahn 2013 Samtgemeinde Lüchow, Wendland (Germany) and the GEDOK Gastatelier 2012 by the Schleswig-Holstein Government (Germany). She has received the CDMC 2008 Composition Prize of the Spanish Ministry of Culture for her composition In constant sorrow for ensemble and the Honorable Mention in the Fundación Autor – CDMC Prize 2010 for piece profil perdu.

In her work, she explores the phenomenon of space in music with regard to structure and material and their relation to theories and practices of feminism and questions of social equality.

Her works have been performed by contemporary music ensembles such as KNM Ensemble Berlin, Vertixe Sonora Ensemble, Nieuw Ensemble, Ligeti Academy Ensemble, Zafraan Ensemble, RadaR Ensemble, Grup Instrumental de Valencia, Grupo Dhamar, Krater Ensemble, NEOSBrass, Rosa Ensemble, Ensemble Espacio Sinkro, Taller Sonoro and by the pianist Alberto Rosado.

She lives and works in Berlin.

Lula Romero (María de la Luz Romero Garrido) studierte Komposition, Klavier und Kunstgeschichte. 2010 schloss sie ein Masterstudium in Komposition am Königlichen Konservatorium in Den Haag bei Gilius van Bergeijk und Cornelis de Bondt ab. Zurzeit studiert sie das Doktor artium Programm in Komposition in der Doktoratsschule der Kunstuniversität Graz, Österreich.

Sie wurde kürzlich mit dem GIGA-HERTZ-Produktionspreis 2014 des ZKM | Institut für Musik und des Freiburger EXPERIMENTALSTUDIO des SWR, mit dem Kompositionsstipendium 2015 and 2012 und mit dem Berlin–Rheinsberger Kompositionpreis 2011 der Senatskanzlei für kulturelle Angelegenheiten Berlin ausgezeichnet und Aufenthaltsstipendia Deutsches Studienzentrum Venedig 2017 der Deutschen Bundesregierung, Künstlerhof Schreyahn 2013, Samtgemeinde Lüchow, Wendland und GEDOK Gastatelier 2012, Schleswig-Holstein. Sie erhielt den CDMC 2008 Kompositionspreis des spanischen Kultusministeriums für ihre Komposition In constant sorrow für Ensemble und die ehrenvolle Erwähnung des Fundación autor – CDMC Preises 2010 für ihr Stück profil perdu.

Ihre Arbeiten wurden von Ensembles zeitgenössischer Musik aufgeführt wie: KNM Ensemble Berlin, Vertixe Sonora Ensemble, Nieuw Ensemble, Ligeti Academy Ensemble, Zafraan Ensemble, RadaR Ensemble, Grup Instrumental de Valencia, Grupo Dhamar, Krater Ensemble, NEOSBrass, Rosa Ensemble, Ensemble Espacio Sinkro, Taller Sonoro und dem Pianisten Alberto Rosado.

Lula Romero (María de la Luz Romero Garrido) es titulada Superior en Composición y Profesional de Piano por el Conservatorio Superior de Música “Manuel Castillo”, Sevilla, así como Licenciada en Historia del Arte por la Universidad de la misma ciudad. Su formación se completa con el título de Master en Composición en el Royal Conservatoire de La Haya con Gilius van Bergeijk y Cornelis de Bondt como profesores. Actualmente cursa sus estudios de Doctorado artístico en Composición en la Doktoratsschule der Kunstuniversität Graz (Universidad de Música y Artes Escénicas Graz), Austria.

Recientemente se le ha otorgado el GIGA-HERTZ Production prize 2014 for Electronic Music del ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics y el SWR EXPERIMENTALSTUDIO, el Kompositionsstipendium 2015 y 2012 y el Berlín-Rheinsberger Kompositionspreis 2011, ambos premios por el departamento de cultura de Berlín, y las becas - residencias Residencia en el Deutsches Studienzentrum Venedig (Centro de Estudios Alemán en Venecia) 2017 del Gobierno Alemán, Künstlerhof Schreyahn 2013, Samtgemeinde Lüchow, Wendland (Alemania) y GEDOK Gastatelier 2012, por el gobierno de Schleswig-Holstein (Alemania). Ha recibido el premio de composición del CDMC 2008 del Ministerio de Cultura español por su composición in constant sorrow para ensemble y la Mención Honorífica del premio Fundación Autor - CDMC 2010 por su obra profil perdu.

Sus obras han sido interpretadas por conjuntos de música contemporánea, tales como, KNM Ensemble Berlin, Vertixe Sonora Ensemble, Nieuw Ensemble, Ligeti Academy Ensemble, Zafraan Ensemble, RadaR Ensemble, Grup Instrumental de Valencia, Grupo Dhamar, Krater Ensemble, NEOSBrass, Rosa Ensemble, Ensemble Espacio Sinkro, Taller Sonoro, y por el pianista Alberto Rosado.

    This video is a screencast of the software sound spatialization model in SuperCollider. The model simulates how a virtual listener could hear the different sound sources in the performance space. Experiment 1 is one of a series of experiments using the model. The goal of experiment 1 is to research the different perceptions of sound materials and their function depending on the listener's position. To be heard with headphones.
