I am a PhD candidate at the Leiden University Academy of Creative and Performing Arts.  I am interested in the differences and similarities between children’s physical play events and improvisational dance. The kinesics communication of children’s physical play seems to resonate well with dance improvisational practice – specifically when it comes to creativity, relational dialogues and shared intercorporality. The concept of participatory sense-making (De Jaegher & Di Paolo, 2007) is central to my research. The PhD research is part of an ongoing research that combines both theory and artistic practice.
