The title of the project, "The more they spit on me, the faster I flower ..." is a quote from the hip-hop musician Kapten Röd and characterizes this project. I want to contribute knowledge about how the transfers between different artistic methods and new technology connect the documentary narrative to personal stories in a complex contemporary. I want to make visible the participation in the documentary processes at a time when words, sound and image flow together into a digital stream. Narrative becomes important as a way of navigating, and by relating to design research, and media and communication science, new knowledge is created about the artist's/director's changed subject position. A field study of the media industry that highlights trends, opportunities, and challenges to help advance the understanding and recognition of co-created works and practices is  Collective Wisdom: Co-Creating within Communities, across Disciplines and with Algorithms  from the MIT Open Documentary Lab’s Co-Creation Studio. While the concept of co-creation is entering the zeitgeist, it is an ancient and under-reported dynamic. Media co-creation has particular relevance in the face of today’s myriad of challenges, such as the climate crisis and threats to democracy.
