From Zillow in January, 2021
I don't remember this house clearly enough to distinguish whether it has changed since I lived there. I think I hadn't thought about what this house looked like because it was the only home I had ever known. This house is my mental blueprint for what a home should be - as such, it doesn't have a particular character in my mind.
The yard around this house is the landscape of my imagination. The boulder at the end of the driveway was my majestic steed that I rode across the Wild West as a lone cowgirl. The maple tree on the right was perfect for climbing. I would jump up to grab one branch and swing my legs over another and then pull my body into that green world. There was even room for 2 other kids to climb in that tree too. We would dare each other to climb higher, or jump to the ground.
When I lived here, I was small enough to burrow into the spaces between and under the bushes that lined the left side of the house. There were lots of spiders under there, but that was their home, so I tried to be polite and not disturb too many webs.
One summer, later in our time here, my parents decided to disassemble the old playset we had in the back yard. So there were pieces of it strewn throughout our side-yard. On a particularly hot day, my sister and I used these pieces, a hose, a sprinkler, sponges, and buckets to construct an water obstacle course. We invited the neighbor kids, who were mostly younger than us at this time, to an afternoon of water games that we organized and lead. My sister and I were not particularly close when we lived here, so the fond memory is particularly sweet. We grew much closer years after we moved for the first time.
