Those little diamonds above the entry archway and the garage door are sets of 4handmade mexican tiles each that my mom picked out. When we moved into this house it was very messy and badly needed updating. The carpets smelled and things were dirty and old. Between that and a kitchen fire in the following year, every surface of this house - inside and outside - was made new during the time my family lived here.
I was a young teenager here. Middle school and 2 years of high school. So I needed places to be alone where I could process my emotions and decide who I wanted to be. One of the places I would go when I was overwhelmed was around on the side of the house, where there were no windows.
In highschool, when I was much more familiar with the neighborhood, I would wander the streets for hours just thinking and being with myself, My first crush lived in the neighborhood across the closest major road and one night, I secretly met him at the nearby park once just to wander together. I was so nervous that my parents would drive past and see our secret rendevous I couldn't even carry a conversation.
