Im interested in baroque art and how to put similar ideas into practice in a document-ary film context. As my starting point I have used the "The Collapse of the frame" theory by Art historian Christian Wölfllin. It is a concept used in describing the complex and sometimes chaotic Baroque painting in opposite to the well ordered and harmonious Renaissance painting. The baroque mentality is a step away from linear narrative, central perspective and monotheism. I find the description (collapse of the frame) as fitting in a film context, as were practically working with and within frames. In art history, the baroque, have often been dismissed as a degenerous style with lesser value. For me it is an interesting way of describing todays film climate which is in never ending transition and multiplication of styles, content and format.
