Biography:

 

Niels Tausk (Den Haag 1967) graduated for the UM exam in jazz trumpet at the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag in 1993, and studied jazz double bass for two years at the same institute. He has performed and recorded with many top names in the Dutch jazz scene, like Cees Slinger, Ferdinand Povel, Peter Beets, Herman Schoonderwald, Rudy Brink, Frans Elsen and Benjamin Herman. He has toured internatinally with Teddy Edwards, Georgie Fame and has shared the stage with Michael Brecker, Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Lewis, Bob Berg, Jim Hall and Tom Harrell.  As an arranger he worked for Mathilde Santing, Peter Ypma plus eleven, the Matangi quartet, and he is known to fit in in a variety of jazzstyles.  His compositions are featured on three cd's as a leader and is to be heard on over 40 cd's as a sideman.

 

He teaches jazz composition, theory and solfege, music history, and harmony at the the conservatories of Den Haag and Amsterdam.
