DATA OCEAN THEATRE
Tragedy and the Goddexxes
III. EPEISODION
Performance for a human body and seven fake-ceramic masks
Performer: Simo Kellokumpu
_
In ancient Greek tragedy, an interlude or section alternating with the stasimon, varying in number from three to six and containing the main action of the drama.
A non-binary human body interacts with seven large "Amphitrite" masks. From being vertically wrapped to horizontally covered/buried, the individual offers themself as a surface for the masks to act on and with. The successive technical placing and diverse assemblages of the bodies and materials - human skin, fake ceramics and leather - at play might, unintentionally, trigger dramatic images for the viewer, like armour, fashion garment, theatre costume, ritual gear, parasitic process, garbage patch, etc... A performance as a study on the possibility of the peripheral and infra-agential participation of the human body/actor into the ebb and flow of the Data Ocean Theatre matters.
