Corrina Thornton (1978, UK) is now Based in Bergen, Norway. She has a BA in Ceramics from Bath Spa University, 2008 and a MA degree in Fine Art from Bergen National Academy of Art and Design, 2011. She now works as a research assistant for Topographies of the Obsolete at Bergen Academy of Art and Design.
During this project I have been developing new research experiments. These are often durational actions involving spending quality time with a place, developing a connection between myself and it. So in that moment, we exchange and meld. If this is actually possible…. I wonder if the places we are in just become a foil for ourselves, or do we experience their voices and our own simultaneously? Surely it is not just us reflected in these materials? Surely matter and place has its own imagination?
These experiments are to understand the Spode site, the site-specific works and for the development of future projects. These findings lead me to be continuously proposing new questions for myself. Rarely am I able to answer them, as spinning from these propositions new ones appear. Sometimes it feels as though I have a large plate of spaghetti, which is continuously tangling and joining onto each other.
