Technodiversity

Cyclo is part of a larger artistic exploration into shared sensorial faculties where “vision” includes vegetal modes of perceiving. Together with pea, able to experience space and time in complex ways – suggesting manifestations of intelligence and foresight – we experimentally question humancentric notions of perception and cognition. Cyclo draws on patents from engineers and filmmakers of the early 20th century to develop a functional mockup of an auto-stereoscopic projection system. By setting in motion plant and human bodies and point of views we enter into correspondences of spatial production, into anatomies of “seeing” and the construction of three-dimensional images. Cyclo creates an experience out of the fact that at no point in the perceptual process an image exists. Cyclo was a contribution for the exhibition: Fabric of Dreams. Towards a Technodiversity Curated by Elisabeth Falkensteiner and Clemens Apprich. 17 Mar 2023 – 12 May 2023 A cooperation with the department of Media Theory, concluding the series of talks and performances on ‘Decolonizing Technology’
