A deeper dive into the Research Catalogue (RC)

We are excited to share that the Research Catalogue, SAR's open-access platform for presenting and sharing artistic research, now has more than 13,000 full users. Many new expositions are published on RC monthly and users can explore the vast database using RC’s advanced search tool, which allows filtering by keyword, title, author, status, and more. Making it easy to navigate the database and find specific expositions relevant to particular interests.

In this example, the keyword performance has been used to filter in the advanced search and a list of 90 published expositions containing that specific keyword can be accessed. A complete list of keywords in the RC (nearly 8000) is available on https://map.rcdata.org/#/keywords .

RC integrates diverse media—text, images, audio, and video—enabling users to create interactive expositions that transcend traditional formats. Supporting collaboration, peer review, and interdisciplinary exchange, the RC connects researchers and institutions globally - serving as both a repository and creative environment, fostering transparency and innovation in documenting and disseminating artistic processes and knowledge.

Call for: The SAR International Artistic Research Forum 2026

- Proposal deadline: 10.02.2025.

Following the successful pilot of SAR’s new biennial SAR International Forum on Artistic Research which took place at Fontys Academy of the Arts in 2024, we hereby invite SAR member institutions to make a proposal to host the SAR International Artistic Research Forum 2026

“Fontys Academy of the Arts had the pleasure of hosting the SAR Forum in Tilburg in April 2024. By doing so, we were able to profile our academy as an active artistic research institute within an international community. Demonstrating the importance of being part of a vivid and diverse network was an important aspect when deciding to host the event. Having been able to welcome an international community of artist researchers and experts was a great privilege and sparked new lines of content-related engagement, in times when making real-life connections is needed more than ever.” - Fontys Academy of the Arts.

We aim for this event to take place between the beginning of April and mid-May 2026, preferably from a Wednesday to Friday.

For more information about the call and the main frame of the forum, please see this page.
