You are in Predikherenstraat. You are a person sitting in a café.

One month ago, I was walking in this street, and I saw the reflection of a house at the opposite window. The window was a showcase full of old toys—mostly old metallic cars in different sizes and colors. It was a small world full of small vehicles. And suddenly I had this crazy idea... To replicate this house, create a miniature and place it behind the window. The house I am talking about is the white symmetrical house at the number 27. I did replicate it! Both inside and outside.

But careful; this is not the story of the white house!

But you don't know all this.. you are just a person sitting in a cafe. You just ordered from the waitress, and you enjoy a nice day in this quiet neighborhood. You haven't even noticed the white house, even if its stands out from the rest in the street. And, of course, you know nothing about the miniature I created, even if it is only a few meters ahead. You will finish your coffee, leave for home and you will never learn about this.

Now please stand up. Leave your chair and table and take one step away from them. Now, get ready to walk fast towards Predikherrestraat.

You are a passerby. And you are busy. You are walking quite fast, and nothing makes you slow down. You pass outside the miniature house, but you never turn your head, and so you never see it.

Now stop! Turn around and stand outside the window of number 32. The toy store’s window.

You are me! One month ago. You look at the reflection of the white house on the window, and you imagine the miniature behind it. You try to visualize how the miniature will look next to the reflection and among the cars.

You are someone living in the neighborhood or passing by this street every day. Lately, you have noticed that the toys have gone from the window, and in their place, a girl is making a dollhouse. Every day she adds something new. She started from the façade, and now she is already making the furniture. This time you are going to ask her what she makes. Or why she is making a dollhouse. You ring the bell twice, you open the door, and you step in.

Please ring the bell, open the door and step in.

You are a spectator who came to see this project. You know that I replicated the white house, and you are curious to look at it. You carefully go around it, and you search for all the details and the fails. You first look at the outside. You look at the front doors and the number 27. You sneak through the window the stairs. You carefully touch the roof. You are not completely sure if you are allowed to do that, so you are very gentle. You slowly walk behind it, and you look at the interior. You are wondering if I really copied the house or if it is a piece of my imagination. Through the miniature windows, you see the true same windows of the white house looking at you. You compare the miniature with what you can see behind the widows of the real house. You are looking for the plants behind the right window. You take some steps back and look at both houses from some distance. You walk back and forth and play with the view of the two houses.

You go again behind and close.

Now you are the resident of the white house. You look from your right window at the toy store opposite the street. You see a person almost wearing the miniature of your house and looking towards you. You wonder if he can see you. You want to play with him. You pick up a red cloth, and you slowly wave it out of the right open window. You leave it half inside and half outside. You hope that the stranger will notice it.

You are a spectator again.

You come outside of the store.

You look one last time at the reflection of the house on the window and the miniature at the same time.

You return to the table where you started.

Your day dish is over.

Are you up for a dessert?
