Artistic Doctoral Outcome in PhD Programme in Artistic Research in Film and Related Audio-visual Arts no. 1.
Abstract
This PhD project in artistic research by Elin Festøy, research fellow at The Norwegian Film School, Innlandet University College, is situated in the field of interactive experiences. Festøy explores how emotionally charged interactions can be used to build trust and communicate non-fiction topics in a way that is more likely to motivate empathy and change. The artistic exploration consists of a consecutive row of conceptual VR experiences. The reflections turn to the role of freedom and agency in interactive experiences and how these can help build a trusting relationship between creator and participant
Sammendrag
Dette doktorgradsarbeidet innen kunstnerisk utviklingsarbeid er utført av Elin Festøy, stipendiat ved Den norske filmskolen, Høyskolen Innlandet. Festøy utforsker hvordan interaktive opplevelser kan anvende emosjonelt ladede valg for å kommunisere tyngre tematikk på en måte som i større grad motiverer til empati og refleksjon. Den kunstneriske utforskningen består av utvikling av en rekke VR konsepter, fulgt av refleksjoner knyttet til hvordan graden av handlingsrom og valgfrihet en deltager gis kan hjelpe til å bygge et tillitsbasert relasjon mellom skaper og deltager.
