documentation of one of the environment embodiment workshops led by Fernanda Branco, practicing relations between body-voice-environment

I remember – ways of remembering collectively

I remember I saw my body as a house.

Said Alice.

I remember thinking if I have been a bird.

Said the Snake.

throughout the research

environment embodiment – towards poetic narratives

I have been giving workshops

of embodied practices that

I have developed

the questions around

how to disseminate knowledge

in artistic research

is already challenging

                                        especially when

dealing with embodied practices

as the practice I offer is very

intimate

and

personal

it never felt fitting

to take photographs

as a way of documenting it

the documentation

of those workshops

derives from

a ritual practice

I have developed

an ending ritual

of collectively remembering

I remember has been created

from the necessity

of ritualising endings

                                        from being

interested in

evoking memories together

and from the desire

to explore

alternative forms of documentation

I remember is

a practice

a collective action

and

a documentation

                               at the same time

the focus of this practice

is not to develop

or give techniques

                                 but rather

be a grounded platform

for experiencing

body and voice practices

through a personal journey

because of its experiential

and personal modes

it seems appropriate

to share this practice

through the

personal testimonies

of the participants' experiences

at the end of each day

of the workshop

as an ending ritual

the participants are invited to

remember together

what they experienced

during the session

the documentation

also called

I remember

is a testimony collection

of

these individual sentences

I remember  - ways of remembering collectively

is

at the same time

an ephemeral collective soundscape narrative

made of memories

that arise

                in the moment of

remembering together

and it is

an archive of memories

                                                        what is evoked by you

what is evoked by you through others

I remember a warmth in my chest.

Continued Alice.

I remember hearing a sound that opened a totally new space in the room.

Continued the Snake.

the process of documentation

still under construction

as this is being written

things might take other

directions

yet

the intention

for all documentations

of this research

is base on

alternative ways to publish

such as post cards

wheat posting

zines

the idea for the

documentation

of the workshops is

to have a collection

of sentences of

I remember

in the format of cards

and in simple A4 prints

each testimony has a life in itself

in a sentence

in a card

yet

the A4

gives the possibility of having

many sentences put together

in a wall

for exemple

creating an open narrative

the order of the sentences

are random

giving the possibility of

creating different readings

the concising of

a sentence

and the possility

of creating

several narratives

by combining them

in different order

are related to the poetics

this research foster

I remember thinking: if this was like one communicated before having language.

Added Alice.

I remember thinking if I was a dog this would be easy for me.

Complemented the Snake.

I remember the sensation of the air sculpting the top of the mouth.

Said Alice or the Snake. I could not recognize which voice said that.
