Every art documentation is an encounter with an artwork in displacement, both in time and space. Yet, the experience of being present in the moment a live art work unfolds is – inevitably – lost in documentation. Evocations – towards a poetics of documentation explores non-conventional documentation to evoke imagination, inspired by the fragmentary, concision and absence found in poetry. This exposition passes through early discussions relating documentation to evidence. It looks into contemporary artists who challenge conventional ways to document, and approaches the act of document as bridging. Insisting on the loss and void inherent in documentation, Fernanda Branco's artistic research: environment embodiment – towards poetic narratives explores the circulatory generative process some non-conventional documentation can have. Varje konstnärlig dokumentation är ett möte med ett konstverk i förskjutning, både i tid och rum. Ändå går själva kärnan i att vara närvarande i ögonblicket när ett livekonstverk utvecklas oundvikligen förlorad i dokumentationsprocessen. Evocations – mot en dokumentationens poetik utforskar en icke-konventionell dokumentation för att väcka fantasi, inspirerad av det fragmentariska, koncisa och frånvarande som finns i poesi. Expositionen går igenom tidiga diskussioner som relaterar dokumentation till bevis. Den undersöker samtida konstnärer som utmanar konventionella sätt att dokumentera och som närmar sig dokumentationen som en slags överbryggning. Fernanda Brancos konstnärliga forskning: environment embodiment – towards poetic narratives insisterar på förlusten och tomrummet i dokumentation och utforskar den cirkulerande generativa process som viss icke-konventionell dokumentation kan ha. I de två projekten I remember och Traces uppmanas den som tittar på dokumentationen att föreställa sig – snarare än att se – vad som hände.
