In this exposition, I want to analyze the unique visual and narrative elements of hand-made animation. What are the aesthetic and emotional qualities and what role does tactility play in our emotional and aesthetic engagement with the medium I want to explore how, for example, the texture of the material, the presence of imperfections or the marks made by the animator's hand, contribute to the overall sensory experience of the animation In a world where AI is becoming increasingly common, hand-made animation represents a unique and valuable form of artistic expression that celebrates human creativity and individuality. While AI may be able to replicate some aspects of animation, it cannot replace the personal touch and creative vision that comes from working with physical materials. The unpredictable and unconscious elements of the creative process in hand-made animation create an authenticity and honesty that I believe has an emotional impact on the viewer. It also carries a cultural history that can be traced far back in all corners of the world. In my research, I want to investigate the importance of materials in hand-made animation and develop ways of working with the materials and objects that are created during the animation process. I think this way of working can create the conditions for a more multifaceted narrative that also opens up a more accessible way of engaging with animation.
