I made an interview of my mom but she does not have any object which was passed down to her, but instead she does have Chipao, which is a kind of traditional dress, has been kept for years. So in the interview we went through a bit of family history of my grandparent passed away in the cultural revolution while my mom were still child, so my mom had to financially take care of my uncle. During 1985-1987 She had to get herself a dress for formal occasion and therefore she got the Chipao from a local second-hand shop within 8 CNY.

She also shared one of her memory about the Chipao with me, when she was in her 30s she was an Chinese teacher in a primary school, and one of her co-worker made a quick sketching of my mom in that dress, and even she never had a crush on her co-worker but she still like the sketch and consider it as one of the most beautiful moment in her younger age.

She believed she built up connection of this dress by all those memories she has in those occasion. She has kept the Chipao in her wardrobe for decades, but she has never wear it again since she thinks that she has gone out of shape and aged so she only kept the dress as a reminder of the good old times.
