PIGEON WAR

My current series of pigeon sketches explores the transformation of these urban and domesticated birds, reflecting both personal and societal metamorphosis.

Using drypoint graphic techniques and mixed media, the work captures various stages of mutation, blending pigeons with grotesque and absurd forms.

Each illustration begins with a relatively realistic depiction of a pigeon, but as the series progresses, the birds morph into more surreal, grotesque creatures.

This reflects my internal state and broader questions about adaptation, survival, and the effects of urban life.

SOME OF MY PRINTS :

:

ENRAVINGS ON A EXIT PLASTIC SIGNS :

Metamorphosis and Transformation: The pigeons evolve and transform, mirroring my both personal experiences and the concept of urban and change.

Symbolism: The pigeon is often perceived as something unpleasant in city areas. This duality is one of my main pillars of my work and represents resilience in the centre of disfavors and transformation.

Absurdity & Grotesque: The progressive distortion of the pigeons speaks to the absurdity of urban life, exploring how animals, environments, and humans all become altered in cityscapes.

PROCESS OF WORK SHOWN AT GALLERY KIT :

WHERE I’M HEADING FOR A NEXT STEP ?

1. PUBLIC SPACES

Taking these sketches in a next phase into streets.

By printing or transferring these graphics onto urban objects like trash cans, street signs, and other surfaces, for connecting the pigeon’s urban symbolism directly to its environment.

2. PHOTOGRAPHY INTERGATION

Considering integrating photographs of urban places with pigeon sketches. This could mean collaging photos of cityscapes with my sketches, emphasizing the birds’ interactions with urban environments.

In public settings, these posters or prints could become interactive, evolving as the city and its people interact with the work. The concept of change and transformation will not just be visual but also temporal as the work wears and fades.
