<>Around 2020, after she couldn’t sew anymore, she decided to give her button box to Lucas, her grandson, who started to show interest of making costumes then.
<Ina was born in 1936 in Groningen,The Netherlands. She started sewing when she was 10. When she welcomed her first child in 1967, she start keeping her own button box, inspired by her own mother. Since then, she’s been collecting buttons to fix clothes for her family.
<> Lucas met Gabrielle in 2023 at HKU while she was on an exchange program, they worked on a project together and later started dating.
In 2025, during Gabrielle’s artistic research on “Re-membering” in the Master Scenography program in HKU, she saw the button box in his cabinet, and was inspired by it.>
