Experience the incredible building complex housing some of Berlin's most coveted creators in sound and music.
Funkhaus is one of Berlin's most iconic buildings. Located just south of Berlin on the banks of the river Spree in an industrial area, the enourmous complex of several large brick buildings that was once the former GDR broadcasting studios resembles an abandoned military campus.
At first, visitors are blown away by the sheer appearance of the buildings – it’s massive and breathtaking. Designed by Bauhaus architect Franz Ehrlich, the complex that was built between 1952 and 1956 became the project of his life. What was exceptional is that is was built solely for the purpose of music, a joint effort of architects and acousticians to create a world-class broadcasting campus with studios designed to meet every need imaginable. It houses rehearsal spaces or studios from many artists such as Nils Frahm, who set up an analog studio there to exploit the unique acoustic properties of the building, or A-Ha, Sting, and the Black Eyed Peas who have recorded there in the past.

The experience
Arriving at Funkhaus is like a window into a Berlin that predates the fall of the wall, and is immediately awe-inspiring. Take a quick tour and see this once no-expenses-spared cultural powerhouse upclose and personal.
The tour takes you to MONOM, a pioneering spatial sound system unlike any other in the world. Have a drink and get immersed in one of their bespoke pieces composed by [artist TBD], a mind-boggling experience in the psycho-acoustic capabilities of this unique sound system, all while sipping your favourite Berlin beverage (don't be shy to go for an Aperol Spritz, it's a classic for a reason).
The tour culminates with a riverside Neapolitan pizza of the highest quality served directly out of Zola's stone oven.
Stay on for a kayak excursion on the river Spree, or simply jump in the rivers like the locals do (if you dare).
