IKU-TURSO (2022)
Collaboration between Oo Condit and Vincent Roumagnac
Sound design and editing Oo Condit and Rosie Swayne
Drone camera Ville Hyvönen
IKU-TURSO was one in the series of video collaborations in which I approached artists and researchers whose approach resonated with my research interests, or who had already somehow entangled with my research. The offer was always the same: to collaborate in creating a work or a video experiment at the intersection of our interests, using remote control human as a starting point. If the collaboration resulted in a finalised work, it could be presented as part of both of our respective research projects.
IKU-TURSO was filmed offshore from Santahamina in the Baltic Sea, near the landing point of the submarine communications cable C-Lion1. The cable has suffered repeated cuts and suspected sabotage in the past year.
IKU-TURSO was presented in Vincent Roumagnac's solo exhibition Data Ocean Theatre / Tragedy & the Goddexxes / VI. KOMMOS in Galleria Titanik, 2022, and it is part of his post-doc research publication Data Ocean Theatre (Out of the Blue) as well my forthcoming doctoral publication How to be a Medium?
