Intrest

Stained glass has something magical for me, when I am in a new place I always go and look at the churches and their glass. The stained glass often tells a story about faith. The Pope embodies the Christian faith and also a nice bonus he attracts a lot of publicity.

Now it seemed interesting to me to connect the Tobiasschool (special education), the Pope and a craftsman in stained glass. De Tobiasschool is a Free school, where creativity, culture and art play a major role. That is why it struck me that classmates had little to do with art.

Where it is not about the end result but the conversations and insights between the parties. Where faith, art and history come together.

Creating an educational experience through a collaboration between unlikely partners. Through collaboration, the different partners learn about each other culture, background etc.. This is done by designing and creating stained glass for the cathedral in Amsterdam tougheter.

What do you think could be the theme of the performance?

In what way does the performance fit the Holland Festival?

How do you think the Holland Festival can provide a platform for asylum seekers' centre residents?

Fragments of a exploratory conversation with HF

The joint development of a (dance) theatre piece with the theme of immigration. By working together, practicing and sharing each other's culture, coming closer together. The various stories provide connection and a dialogue processed in a theatre piece for the Holland Festival.

My own background and experiences with asylum seekers gave me this idea. What you often come across are the negative stories about asylum seekers. Often told about them and not by them themselves.

Club Guy & Roni works together with a diverse range of dancers. Both in appearance and origin. I believe that dance connects, especially because you don't necessarily have to speak each other's language.
The Holland Festival is a large festival where people from different backgrounds are involved. It often builds a bridge between other cultures.
