Background and motivation for developing this workshop model
The seminars on Ethics at the Norwegian Artistic Research School reached a state where one realised a growing need for both teaching and more discursive activity on ethics within artistic practice. As this also requires consciousness, focus and commitment from seminar staff, supervisors, institutional administration as well as the doctorates themselves, it was natural to take up the role as project partner in the re-submission of the application Advancing Supervision for Artistic Research Doctorates (ADSA). The partner in the first application was Norwegian Artistic Research Programme, whose role as national agent on the field was changing from research fellowship programme into a national research school.
The ADSA project gives a drive and opportunity to develop methodoligal contents for further use in contexts where artistic research doctorates takes their educational courses, where faculty staffs aim to develop the discourse on ethics and where institution owners need insight in knowledge production and development of artistic practices.
