7 November 2019 at 13:00 I sent my thesis draft to my supervisor. Only about 15 minutes later, when I walked crossing the street in the city centrum, a racing bike came towards me. I had 3 fractures in my jaw, a concussion, at least 6 broken teeth, and PTSD caused by that accident. 1,5 years later, when I typed this thesis, my jaw still has tremors, jaw muscles are still strained, the nerves around my face are still not responding well, constant pain, and depression often comes to me. I was not able to work on my thesis until January 7, 2021 because this thesis always reminds me of the worst moment in my life.
It's a miracle that I did not give up on my life throughout the difficult times.
I genuinely want to thank the school for understanding my circumstances.
To my husband, thank you for striving with me.
To my singing teachers, thank you for all your knowledge.
To my supervisors, Emlyn Stam and Stefan,
thank you for your patients and critical thinking that really shapes my writing.
To my best friend, Petra Ruth Alexandry, thank you for your sincerity and kindness.
I hope our friendship will always keep growing.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. - 2 Timothy 4:7
