Introduction

Planting Hypnos revisits our assumptions about what it means “to see”, “to measure”, “to know”, and proposes another frame of perceptual reference. As we begin to dwell in the optical and temporal mechanisms of seeing, we become part of translation processes; we actually experience a transitioning of proportions and sizes, their temporality, resolution, depths, and colors. No longer are we looking at spectacular scale jumps from the cosmic to the molecular. We calm down. We perform modest, tiny gestures, with a curiosity towards the turbid in the image, the machine, the material. The many lenses and filters that accustomed us to an accelerated, multiplied and dislocated nature of being in this world, are leaving our perceptual range behind. In the many efforts to turn into „more-than- human“ beings, what realities, what perspectives open from/within our perceptual incompatibility with others?

Falling Asleep. Conceived as a discursive and performative happening, Unstable Bodies and guests inhabit Exhibit Eschenbachgasse to return, respectfully, to the process and methods of asking. Complicating the sense that “the-subject-who-sleeps” is a static individual in isolated separation from the world, we ask what new forms of conviviality might arise when considering a vegetal sensory perception system, an eco-system, that also sleeps? Dreams? Another language of the many that accommodates practices of movement, writing and speech will be necessary to think new forms of co-existence. In the building of a grammar for and with different disciplinary languages, resonating mis-readings, un-heard overtones and undertones - synesthetic imprints - this is an attempt to exercise modes of critically speaking through a cross-disciplinary fabric of voices.

In den Schlaf fallen. Unstable Bodies* und Gäste beziehen für ein paar Tage die Räume der Eschenbachgasse, um dem Prozesshaften, der Art und Weise des Frage-stellens selbst in performativen und literartischen Setzungen auf den Grund zu gehen. Dabei wird das "Subjekt, das schläft" kritisch betrachtet, weniger als ein statisches Individuum getrennt von dessen Umgebung, als eher ein Phänomen, welches andere Formen von Konvivialität aufwirft: ein pflanzliches Sensorium als ein Ökosystem, das schläft, betrachtet, träumt? Eine andere Sprache der Vielfalt, die Praktiken der Bewegung, des Schreibens und Sprechens aufzunehmen vermag, wird notwendig sein, um neue Formen des Zusammenlebens zu denken. Im Entwerfen einer Grammatik für und mit verschiedenen disziplinären Sprachen, mitschwingenden Irrtümern, ungehörten Ober- und Untertönen - synästhetischen Abdrücken - ist dies ein Versuch, Modi des kritischen Sprechens durch ein disziplinübergreifendes Gewebe von Stimmen zu üben.
