Recordings

3.1 The first recordings

No professional audio recordings for CD or Vinyl distribution have previously been made of the music of Ludovicus Mirandolle. The only proof of recordings are to be found in Mirandolles notes and letters. It is also mentioned on the back cover of the printed sheet music of deux morceaux pour instruments à vent. Here we can find a list of pieces for different instrumentations.

Under a few of the music titles, a text is added mentioning the “1re audition”:

“1er Quintette…12-V-1940…Radio Paris…”

“Sonate en Trio…10-III-1943…Radiodiffusion Nationale, Paris…”

“Trois Mouvements…3-IX-1946…Radiodiffusion francaise…”

“I Quatuor…12-XI-1946…Radiodiffusion tchèque (Brno-Praha II)…”1

It is interesting to see that even though he did not publish a lot of music, his music found a way outside of The Netherlands. It shows that Ludovicus Mirandolle had a lot of connections everywhere resulting in recordings for the national radio in France and Czech Republic.

One other audio recording we have is of a rehearsal of Cinq Mouvements pour Trio d'Anches (Oboe, Clarinet in Bb, Bassoon) recorded on 16 November 1976, by Pierre Woudenberg. The performance was for the occasion of the anniversary of the Christengemeenschap. The instrumentalists are Hansje de Roo (Oboe), Pierre Woudenberg (Clarinet in Bb) and Kasper de Roo (Bassoon).
