What is Blockchain? Blockchain Technology Explained Simply

Stephen Hay

Blockchain technology is a way of managing a ledger of records in a decentralized manner. It means that everyone participates in maintaining and updating the ledger, which makes it practically impossible to falsify. While Blockchain technology is a good solution to the issue of centralization, it’s also very inefficient and slow, therefore it should only be used if the problem at hand is indeed centralization. That’s Blockchain technology in a nutshell. If you want a more detailed explanation about the Blockchain and how Blockchain technology watch the complete video , here’s what I’ll cover:

0:54 - What blockchain aims to solve
2:48 - Bitcoin: the decentralization of money
3:10 - Decentralization opportunities
4:04 - Blockchain explained in a nutshell
5:16 - How does blockchain technology work
10:05 - Ethereum in a nutshell
10:26 - Private blockchains
11:40 - Public blockchains
11:58 - Is blockchain the next big thing?
13:12 - Conclusion

Application of NFTs: beyond art and collectables

BlockStart

NFTs mark a turning point for digital transformation, as applications and integrations are spilling to various sectors: from music and events to energy and supply chains. To discover the transformative potential and opportunities NFTs present for DLT developers and adopters, the BlockStart project team invited founders of NFT startups and experts for a discussion on the 28th of October, between 3pm and 4:30pm CET. They aimed to identify a few possible answers to the question: what are the possibilities of NFTs application? The Blockchain: A Revolution You Need to Understand

Milken Institute

The promise of Bitcoin has been overshadowed by its underlying technology, the blockchain. There is great interest from traditional financial firms, which, saddled with decades-old payment infrastructures, are eager to adapt to the digital realities and improve the efficiency, speed and transparency of transactions. Efforts are underway at the national and international levels to study and monitor the blockchain, and a consortium of large international banks is collaborating on how to bring Bitcoin's technology to bear in the financial marketplace. How can this technology deliver for the financial services industry? Can we expect to see widespread use of these new systems in the near future and, if so, how will they change finance? Are we likely to see movement toward private rather than public blockchains, and how will this affect transparency and security?

Damien Hirst and former governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, sat down to discuss 'The Currency’, NFTs, money, gold and Karl Marx.
Cointelegraph

In an exclusive interview with Cointelegraph at one of Damien Hirst’s sprawling West London studios, the artist talked about the tension between art and money, the fleeting nature of value, and how, more than anything, this new project tests just how much his audience believes in him.

‘Love is in The Air’ is the first art piece “fractionalized” by the project. The piece is divided into a 100×100 grid and the 10,000 particles are then turned into NFTs purchasable on the Avalanche Network. Each Particle is unique and allows the holder to enjoy a personal ownership experience with the artwork.

Katsushika Hokusai (October 1760 – May 1849)
LaCollection and the British Museum

One of the leading painters and print artists of 19th century Japan, Hokusai (1760–1849) produced work of masterful quality throughout his 70-year-long career, creating many of his most famous pieces in the later years of his life. His most celebrated print Under the Wave off Kanagawa, better known as ‘The Great Wave’, was made around 1831 as the Edo-based (modern Tokyo) artist embarked on the rich creative period of his 70s and beyond. Hokusai's ambition was to create images of universal appeal, imbued with powerful life force, encompassing the whole range of subjects in worlds both real and imagined. By his death aged 90, he had over 3,000 colour prints, nearly 1,000 surviving paintings, several hundred illustrated books and hundreds of drawings to his name.

We present NFT drops with a selection of watercolors by Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775–1851). We have used art history and the maturity of the artist’s technique to define the scarcity level of NFTs associated with our drops. Between 1796 to 1809, Turner began his career as an artist and explored in-depth the watercolor technique. Therefore, we have decided to make our four NFTs from this period Rares. During the mid-1810s and until the mid-1820s, Turner traveled extensively in Europe, especially Italy. His interactions with new landscapes and a different light are excellent sources of inspiration, and his watercolor technique keeps maturing. Our NFTs from 1817 to 1823 are Super Rares. Then, Turner’s most influential period, which notably impacted impressionists and modern painters, started from late the late 1820s to his death in 1851. This is when his watercolor technique is at its peak in terms of composition and complexity of the medium. So, our Turner NFTs based on works between 1825 to 1843 are Ultra Rares.

Opulous is the only platform to mint Music Fungible Tokens (MFTs) alongside exclusive Artwork NFTs. Unlike other tokens, MFTs offer buyers a share of a single, EP or album’s music copyright. These groundbreaking tokens will generate monthly royalty revenue and increase in value as an artist’s career progresses. They’re the only music copyright-backed token approved by the SEC. So when artists you invest in earn money - so do you! MFT owners can track this passive income and withdraw their earnings directly from their Opulous account. Plus they’ll be tradable on the upcoming Opulous Exchange.
