Rita gives us a brief introduction to how the concept of just transition has been promoted and is currently being used in policy and politics at EU, national and local level. Rita introduces us to how she works with just transition issues and what she sees as the pressing issues ahead. We asked Rita if she could talk about the differences in how different disciplines and sectors approach the notion of justice and just transitions and how they frame the challenges. We raise the question of whom does the transition serve, and which tools and skills do we need to navigate a green and just transition.
Rita Vasconcellos d'Oliveira Bouman has a multidisciplinary academic background in sustainability, which includes the areas of Biology and Geology, Industrial Ecology, a PhD in Social Sciences and another in Applied Ethics.
