Breaking my rules

Although I had set up this rule for myself of not using any pre-recorded material I have had to give in to the temptation to try it out. Following is some experiments in this. The first of which I have used sometimes as a last song when playing live (LINK). I found that it somehow worked towards bringing the audience and myself back to reality to hear some instrument of acoustic origin, after a whole concert with only synthesized sounds.

Experiment 1

Here I'm using two channels that play overlapping 1second snippets from a contiuasly recording audio buffer of 15 seconds. The "playheads" are modulated very slowly by lfos. The original recording is beeing played back at around 70% speed and is fading in and out. It's the same recording of Olav Snortheim's langleik playing that I've been transcribing previously (link). I particularly like the "slow motion" feeling of it.

Experiment 2

Further experiments with processing of archival recordings. This time Eivind Groven's seljeflute playing processed by Spear which does FFT analysis of the recording and then enables the user to stretch out and in different ways modify the individual sinewaves that constitutes the sound.
