Thinking together - sessions

In these sessions I started sharing a small presentation about my research project to the person that I chose, usually an artist who is related to my project in a specific way.

With Vitoria Aquino

She is a dancer an actress, Master in Performing Public Space. I met with her online in November, and she questioned how is my relationship with the audience, how do I connect with them. She invited me to be more specific on how the audience will experience the space where I will work, or perform.

With Eva Bubla

I found about her because she is a associate artist on In-Situ. She proposed me to do breathing exercises, and sensing exercises for me and the audience to experience reality with a different focus. She told me the idea of imagining you are a plant, how does it feel, and you touch the physical object, and smell it. She highlights the deep connection between smell and memory, also because her experiences doing smell mapping.

With Vera Hofman

She was very interested on my project, and we started collaborating because she was also in the same quest of questioning anthropocentrism. She presented me the device Plantsplay which allows her to co-create music with plants and trees. At this point of my project I was only co-creating with the soundscape of the Oude Warande composed by Birds, and Geophony (wind sounds, rain and cracking branches). Afterwards, I decided to buy this device and start adding the participation of plants and trees in my performance idea.

With Piet van de Hout

I contacted him because of his expertise in birds, and for being a biologist. He shared with me an anecdote from his youth, related to the power of memory through sound. And he helped me to recognize which birds I recorded. He also gave me interesting references from a musician and biologist that made an interdisciplinary lecture called Music for migration where they raise awareness about a bird which is in danger of extinction.
