Thank you for taking the time to look into what I am doing! I use this catalogue as a method for organizing my work and experimenting with creating associations with the materials I collect throughout my research. In this way I aim to contextualize my work and find out what materials are source material for me by exploring them in emerging themes.
I have a burning passion for technology. It's aesthetics and the specific skills associated with it are what makes it fascinating to work with. Its role in making incredible and complex things possible makes me value it tremendously.
This is also where my frustration kicks in, technologies and those individuals working with them are often positioned as the supporting act, overshadowed or hidden away by the 'work' that is created through them.
I want to look at ways to do this differently, which is why I am basing my research at HKU around the question:
"How can the process of creating scenographic work become an integral contribution of the audience experience."
Within this catalogue I reserved one page to archive all of my collected materials, it is a page that provides an organized overview of the inspirations and materials that are part of my research. In this archive I gather my own collected materials such as analog images, video and sketches as well as inspiring artists, articles and books that provide references.
From working with these materials, themes that are relevant for my research emerge. I describe the way they relate to eachother in the page emerging themes. These themes form the structure for my research and are where I explore links between my own work and references to contextualize their themes, create new insights find inspirations for the continuation of my work.
