Gunstein Bakke - Murskueteknikkane

Ub'Ixik

Cecilia Vicuna text about Ub'Ixik

What is the name saying, what does it have to tell, say?

A way of reading. To read is is to read the day. , not a "day" but a conglomerate of events and dimensions that is possible to read in a multidimensional way.

The word theory comes from the Ancient Greek θεωρία (theōría), which meant: looking at, viewing, contemplation; spectacle or a sight, also used to describe philosophical contemplation or speculative thinking It derives from: θεωρός (theōrós) – spectator, one who looks at or observes; related to θεάομαι (theáomai) – to see, to behold

That yellow house on the corner was my grandfathers workplace. I think both my uncle and my father had their first employments there.

It was the first place(as of family-lore) where they vacuum-packed food in Trondheim. The mentioned first job was handling the lapskaus(stew)-boiler. A hot and steamy 1000liter of boiling stew getting pressured into plastic-bags.

So those memories

were noted with a childs voice

I remember them because they were moments in my youth. Moments that became markers.

I turned and saw the person I was waiting for, waving.

The way out of this used to be witht he fiord. A ship. A boat.

Now you can go to Rema1000 and its all there. The world in one place.

Whats near is the skateboarder, not chrashing, but using the stairs as landing cushion. I don't remember the year. The street was full of people. Excited. Two and two daredevils battled to get down to the finishing line before the other. Downhill. National Championship.

In the end technology(better wheels) won. But I guess most of us remember Maciek Korbut who did'nt care about the finishing line. He was going downhill as fast and stylish as possible

Why he chose to crashland. What immediate future was it that he saw that made the stairs seem like the best option.

He got up with some help from a paramedic and friends. Everyone cheered in relief,

What I remember seeing a piece of video art I this summer. A person, smashing car windows. Dancing and singing, walking down the street, whilst doing it.

Later we discussed. She convinced that it was staged. I was convinced of the opposite

the rest of what we had to say hinged upon it

we had nothing more to say about the work

 INFORMAL SECTOR

it's the terror of the flames

It was Pipilotti Rist smashing car windows with a flower. In 1997. It wasn't real. The car windows were.

In 2025 it was part of the exhibition Political Tension at the Neue National Galerie.

"The so-called ‘psychotically depressed’ person who tries to kill herself doesn’t do so out of quote ‘hopelessness’ or any abstract conviction that life’s assets and debits do not square. And surely not because death seems suddenly appealing. The person in whom Its invisible agony reaches a certain unendurable level will kill herself the same way a trapped person will eventually jump from the window of a burning high-rise. Make no mistake about people who leap from burning windows. Their terror of falling from a great height is still just as great as it would be for you or me standing speculatively at the same window just checking out the view; i.e. the fear of falling remains a constant. The variable here is the other terror, the fire’s flames: when the flames get close enough, falling to death becomes the slightly less terrible of two terrors. It’s not desiring the fall; it’s terror of the flames. And yet nobody down on the sidewalk, looking up and yelling ‘Don’t!’ and ‘Hang on!’, can understand the jump. Not really. You’d have to have personally been trapped and felt flames to really understand a terror way beyond falling."

I haven't seen this word. I don't see it

it has had other names. its been there

is it a projection?

i certainly have met, what can I call it, practitioners of opacity

surveillance, seeing from above, listening from any source

But now we could talk about, even share a sensation of being able to do something about it

" we studied new subjects like "real history"

we also separated threads. Realities separated

it is covered by other words. what is near and what is vague, i have repeated since bfa1 and the dialogue with Leslie

..

we have a world order that allows for parallel worlds

one where for instance surveillance is a tool and way of working

most people, like me, no very little to nothing about

our ideas about it stem from entertainment offcourse

a very different parallel world where everything is possible

so.. the world was shrouded in clouds

then came the age of mapping. of ships and glass and feathers

for every inch of sea and land, "discovered" and "transformed" by means of two-dimensionality

a new layer was added, a veiling of the threedimensionality depicted

take sitting in the cinema. the lights go out. the screen starts to flicker. its light hits the viewer eyes and so the rest of the world falls dark

is this the day becoming the night? the unveiling of our makro-surrounding and the blinding of what is near

its not a binary, it works all ways. its four people holding a corner each of a blanket. arms

straight, leaning back and forth lite bowling pins

the four corners of the cosmos

the four corners of the planet

imagine this-your viewing the planet from a distance. you are at such a distance that the division of night and day, light and darkness, appears with a crisp definition

there are four sticks poking out of the planet. on at the top(zenit) pointing upwards

and one at the bottom pointing downwards

and one pointing directly at you coming from what you see as the middle

The fourth stick, the on you cannot see is on the opposite side, pointing outwards

we can imagine that these sticks continues inwards so that they meet in exagt middle of the planet

opacity and transparency?

She illustrates this dynamic through the story of Jason, a deaf employee who took it upon himself to educate his colleagues about deaf culture and communication norms. His willingness to share his experience – an act of openness the workplace often praises as “authenticity” – briefly made daily interactions easier. But as Burey shows, that progress was precarious. When staff turnover erased the informal knowledge Jason had built, the culture of access dissolved with it. “All of that knowledge left with them,” he notes wearily. What remained was the exhaustion of having to start over, of being made responsible for an institution’s learning curve. In Burey’s view, this is what it means to be asked to expose oneself without protection: to risk vulnerability in a system that applauds your transparency but refuses to codify it into policy. Authenticity becomes a trap when institutions depend on individual self-disclosure rather than structural accountability.
