MUSIC FOR THE INNER EAR

Potential for 1000 recorders (installation and/or sculpture and/or sound and/or landscape and/or music)
Potential for 1000 recorders was exhibited at the Inter Arts Center (Malmö), in August 2018, and operated within a potential state without any physical sound. The potential state of Potential for 1000 recorders allows the listener to create an imaginary soundscape on their own, by using the inner ear. Each imaginary listening experience is different from listener to listener, and each listening experience is completely valid.
The recorder is not to be considered as only an instrument. It is also a cultural marker and an embodiment of the music institutions in which children learn to play music, and thereby are introduced to the notion of hierarchy in music, and in knowledge.
Potential for 1000 recorders gives the listener an opportunity to evoke an imaginary soundscape for 1000 recorders, free of hierarchy and anxiety.
